Credit Unions are non-profit financial institutions, owned and operated by their members. We have a democratic structure with a voluntary Board of Directors that is elected by our membership. The National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF) insures our members’ savings accounts up to $250,000.00 and IRA accounts to $250,000.00 each, is the strongest insurance fund of all financial institutions.
Genisys Credit Union was chartered in 1936, to serve both the salary and hourly employees of General Motors Truck Corporation, working in facilities located in Pontiac, Michigan. Our original name was GMTC Employees Federal Credit Union. In the mid 1980’s, Genisys began adding Select Employer Groups to its charter to stabilize its financial position during cyclical down turns in the automotive market. Diversifying its membership by adding Select Employer Groups allowed Genisys to provide more and better services to all members. In February of 2002, Genisys was granted a community charter to serve all people who live, work, worship, go to school, do business and volunteer in Oakland County, Michigan. Genisys is one of Michigan’s largest and strongest credit unions.
Genisys is actively involved in the communities in which it has a presence. The winner of multiple awards, Genisys has been recognized nationally and locally on numerous occasions. Some examples include the United Way, the Baldwin Center Food Bank, Oakland County Literacy, OLHSA’s Walk for Warmth and IDA programs, the Relay for Life, the Oakland County Fair, local Christmas and Independence Day parades, and many school education programs.
Our Mission is to provide our membership with the highest quality service at competitive prices. We have twelve owned, full-service branches; our members have access to 2,900 national shared branches, and 25,000 Sur-charge FREE ATMs. As a non-profit entity, we return our earnings to all members in the form of reduced interest rates on loans, higher yields on savings, reduced fees, and state of the art delivery channels for superior convenience to our membership.
